The pharmacies inside Comanche County Memorial Hospital, including Great Plains Pharmacy and their 24-hour pharmacy, can take Tricare once again.
Seth Julian, the Pharmacy Manager at Great Plains Pharmacy, said a lot of their customers are either military or military-dependent. He says being able to fill the prescriptions also benefits those admitted to the hospital who use Tricare.
“We have a lot of people that are in the hospital, and when they get discharged, they can give them their medicine then,” Julian said. “They don’t have to go hunting for it. They don’t have to go on Fort Sill. They can get it for them right then.”
Julian said they stopped being able to fill the prescriptions after a policy change by Tricare.
“We were able to apply through Tricare to be able to fill that,” he said. “It took a little bit of time to get that, but once we got that approved, we’re happy to help anybody that has Tricare in the Lawton and Comanche County communities.”
He said they just recently helped someone who was having trouble getting their prescription filled at another pharmacy because of the change.
“We’re extremely excited as CCMH to be able to help anyone that’s associated with the military or in the military,” Julian said. “They take care of our country, and it’s best that we do all that we can to take care of them and their dependents.”
This also includes the Lawton Community Health Center’s pharmacy.
