Comanche County Memorial Hospital is being recognized for their maternity care services, and how well they care for mothers and babies.

From the moment a pregnant woman walks in the hospital doors, until the moment she and her family leave, they get the best care possible at Comanche County Memorial Hospital.

Because of this attention to care, U.S. News and World Report said CCMH is a top performing maternity care hospital, and Oklahoma Perinatal Quality Initiatives named CCMH as a spotlight hospital for its quality initiatives.

“So this is actually the third year that we’ve gotten the US News and World Report recognition and they’ve only been doing it for three years. US News and World Report kinda ranks everything from restaurants to hospitals to doctors, so it’s really an honor to be a part of that.”

Paula Griffith says, on average, three to five babies are born at the hospital every day.

Organizers look at things such as c-section rates, newborn screening, breastfeeding rates, and safety measures when deciding which hospitals meet their standards and should be recognized.

“Our nurses work really hard in maintaining their education. Approximately 80% of our nurses are certified in their specialty, which takes a lot of education, CEUs, and testing.”

Beyond that, the hospital provides education and does testing to make sure their staff is on the cutting edge of knowledge.

“While getting these awards are great, it’s just a reflection of the quality care that we give, but our real goal is using that quality care to provide healthy babies, healthy families, and the best experience for moms and the family and the community.”
