It’s hard to believe that it’s already time for the spirit of survival kickoff!
It’s the 14th year for the race that benefits the Cancer Centers of Southwest Oklahoma.
“We’ll have hamburgers and hot dogs,” said Lane Hooton, Chief Operating officer of the Cancer Centers. “We’ll have some vendors there. OKrunners is going to be there selling shoes and apparel.”
Hooton says while the training program has already started, you can always start up.
“There’s a couple groups in town that are doing the training this year, and they’ve already started,” said Hooton. “But it’s not too late to get in shape for one of the runs.”
Hooton says there are benefits to registering early at this years kickoff.
“One thing you get is 20% off the registration. That’s a piece of it,” said Hooton. “Sign up and get committed to getting in shape for the events themself. It’s good for you and it’s good for the community.”
He says not only does the Spirit of Survival promote healthy living, it brings the community together for a great cause.
“The event as always supports the work we do here at the cancer center,” said Hooton. “And we’re really proud of what the cancer center does, and we’re really proud of how the community supports it.”
The 14th Annual Spirit of Survival Kickoff is Saturday, July 27th at the Caner Center in Lawton from 11am until 3pm. There will be discounts for registrations and merchandise. For more information please call 580-536-2121 or visit spiritofsurvival.com.
